“Team Academy” third-year students participated in the international project “Global Business Challenge”

Third-year students of Business Management and Marketing by “Team Academy” method successfully completed their participation in the international project “Global Business Challenge” by invitation from Aston University in October 2023. Over the course of several months, they faced multiple challenges as they joined an international community comprising 34 teams and approximately 230 participants from around the world.

The goal of the “Global Business Challenge” project participants was to form intercultural teams, acquire real clients, listen to their needs/problems, and provide solutions. Each week, students attended online meetings, divided tasks, managed their time, communicated with their assigned coach, and presented solutions to the client.

In addition to project activities, Vilnius Business College’s “Team Academy” students had meetings with their course  mates and coaches to discuss the project, share their progress, and exchange ideas. This experience provided students with greater motivation, the opportunity to see their work from different perspectives, and a chance to achieve better results as a team. It was also a unique international experience, allowing them to understand how business operates in different countries and explore cultural differences.

Aušra Gaivenienė, a coach for the students, commented, “This project is a great idea for those who are not accustomed to or are hesitant to work in a team.” She also participated in the “Global Business Challenge” project as a coach for other student teams.

Our “Team Academy” students described their participation in this project as extremely interesting and beneficial. It allowed them to learn about different cultures, improve their English language skills, and work in an international team.

“This project is a great idea for those who are not used to or are afraid to work in a team,” said one student. Another added, “I gained a lot of valuable experience, from creatively completing assigned tasks to working with people from all over the world.”

We wish our third-year “Team Academy” students the best of luck in their future career!

Vilnius Business College Events in 2023

How was the year 2023 for Vilnius Business College?

Much has happened because the college is primarily about people, and each of them experienced various perceptions, lessons, and impressions. The college is both a higher education institution, living an interesting and active life as an educational institution.

From the multitude of events, we selected the most memorable ones.

  • This year we have marked the 31st anniversary of Vilnius Business College, which is one of the first private higher education institutions in Lithuania.

  • Vidas Kavaliauskas, a longtime member of the college community, specially released an e-learning book “World Languages” for Vilnius Business College’s English language international communication students. Unfortunately, after a few months, we lost valuable friendship with the professor.

  • In March, Vilnius Business College hosted a meaningful two-day scientific conference with guests from 11 foreign countries.

  • Maryna Saprykina, the head of the Ukrainian CSR organization network, founder of the Ukrainian Women’s Business Community, and sustainability consultant, delivered a unique lecture on the resilience of Ukrainian businesses in the face of war in Ukraine.

  • In May, “Team academy” students participated at the XX International Student Scientific Symposium in Klaipėda, focusing on “Academic Youth Aspirations: Insights into Economics, Management, Law, and Technology in 2023.”

  • The student council of Vilnius Business College elected a new president, Benas Kuprys, which significantly increased the number of student-organized activities.

  • A new initiative, the “Tech Savvy” programme for business representatives, was launched, fostering digital literacy and helping businesses find digitization opportunities for their sector, company, or product development.

  • The “Profadienis” event continued its success, where students develop various competencies and learn to make decisions to solve business problems.

  • Along with “Tech Savvy,” training sessions were held for Vilnius Business College lecturers on the field of artificial intelligence and technological innovations.

  • The successful collaboration with the “Barcelona Technology School” (Spain) resulted in master’s studies for any graduated student who obtained a professional bachelor’s degree.

  • Other successful initiatives include the traditional Vilnius Business College translation competition, counting eleven years, and the scientific electronic journal “Applied Business: Issues & Solutions,” established by Vilnius Business College and Marius Jakulis Jason’s fund.

VBC Teachers and Students Visited Partnership Institutions in Slovenia

The main topic of the project is to examine and present sustainable tourism in the project partner countries.

Project participants – Latvia, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovenia.

Vilnius Business College students, together with partners from other countries, prepared presentations about the possibilities of sustainable tourism in their countries during virtual meetings, which they presented during live contact, answered the audience’s questions, and tried to offer ways to expand and popularize sustainable tourism.

During the live meeting, the project participants went to different tourist areas/companies, where they learned about the work being done or intended to be done to promote organic tourism (chocolate factory, pumpkin seed oil press, observation tower of the Lendava region, baking of national bread, etc.).

Lecturers and specialists working in the fields of environmental protection and tourism gave lectures to the participants (about the importance of watersheds for wildlife and the fight against climate change, the importance of beavers for ecosystems, etc.).

Good practices were exchanged, countries’ progress, advantages and obstacles of sustainable tourism were compared.

The result of the meeting is a video about sustainable tourism in each of the participating countries.
