Applied Business: Issues & Solutions is a new international journal published by Vilnius Business College and Marius Jakulis Jason Fundation. Open journal in English will be published twice a year and will cover publications on these topics: applied business solutions, business process modelling, programming for FinTech, education innovation (EduIno) technologies, advanced programming.

Applied Business: Issues & Solutions is available online only and is dedicated for both academic and general public.

“In the published articles, the business will find applicable ideas that are still being developed or are already successfully operating elsewhere. The academic community now has a possibility to publish publications of applied nature, in which an interdisciplinary symbiosis of informatics, management, economics, education and communication has been realized.

By the way, articles in English can be submitted not only by academics, but also by any active person with something to say. It is important that he has interesting ideas, has the ability to evaluate and is able to share insights,” stressed the editor of the journal, dr. Alytis Gruodis.

Vilnius Business College welcomes the start of its thirtieth anniversary academic year with an exceptionally large number of students and changes that symbolize a new decade of the college’s life. In 2022, 20% more students enrolled to Vilnius Business College than in the previous year, and most of them chose our college as their first or second priority. The number of international students from various foreign countries is also growing rapidly.

This year, Vilnius Business College welcomes the academic year with the opening of new modern premises in Saltoniškės street. Digital Business study programme, which is highly valued by education experts and in high demand in the business market, is being launched. The college’s community is expanding with new lecturers, and the scientific journal of the Vilnius Business College is strengthening its academic activities.

Amidst these ambitious achievements, friendliness remains a key feature of our College, which was mentioned in the welcoming speeches of both the guests and the Director, Dr Gitana Neverienė, during the two-day celebrations of the beginning of the academic year.

“May this academic year be marked by friendship, which for us is not just a word, but a deep meaning. We add the word ‘colleagues’ to the word ‘friendship’. Let’s become friends and colleagues, let’s create a shared success story! As a college, we generously share our knowledge and best experiences to become an important part of everyone’s success story,” said G. Neverienė in her welcoming speech.

Mindaugas Šukys, an alumnus of Business Management and Marketing, agreed that Vilnius Business College is truly a place of community and wished the first-year students to graduate with their heads held high. And Rūta Guirguis, a second year student in English for International Communication, remembering her excitement-filled 1st of September celebration a year ago, wished the new students courage and many more first times!

Thank you, our new and present students, for being with Vilnius Business College!

We are happy to announce that Vilnius Business College has received Lithuanian government funding to organize Lithuanian language and culture courses for Ukrainian citizens (students, lecturers, researchers, and employees of all fields of the education system) who left Ukraine for Lithuania as a result of the Russian Federation’s military agression in Ukraine.

The main aims of the course are:

• to develop communication/speaking, listening, reading and writing skills (corresponding to the requirements of CEFRL A1.1 and A1.2 language proficiency levels);
• socio-cultural competence (familiarisation with behavioral norms in everyday life situations);
• develop comprehension (teaching how to relate the text heard or read to the environment) and compensatory strategies (overcoming difficulties in life situations due to a lack of communication skills and language knowledge, asking for and accepting help);
• to develop the ability to understand texts and communicate on the following topics: personal identity, buildings and houses, the city and transport, food and drink;
• Introduce and consolidate basic vocabulary related to these topics;
• Introduce the basic grammatical forms of the Lithuanian language.

Besides in-class lectures, course participants will also go on excursions, museums, and field trips, where they will be able to learn more about Lithuanian history, culture and traditions. The course is aimed to help ease integration of Ukrainians in to Lithuanian society.

The courses will start on 5th of September and go on until 4th of November.

The classes will be held from Monday through Friday for 2 academic hours every day and will be held in Vilnius Business College main building (Kalvariju str. 129).

The course is completely free of charge and will cover all expenses for Ukrainian citizens.

• розвивати навички спілкування/говоріння, аудіювання, читання та письма (відповідно вимогам рівня володіння мовою CEFRL A1.1 та A1.2);
• соціокультурна компетентність (ознайомлення з нормами поведінки в повсякденних життєвих ситуаціях);
• розвивати розуміння (навчання співвідносити почутий або прочитаний текст з навколишнім середовищем) і компенсаційні стратегії (подолання труднощів у життєвих ситуаціях через брак комунікативних навичок і знання мови, прохання та прийняття допомоги);
• розвивати вміння розуміти тексти та спілкуватися на такі теми: особистість, будівлі та будинки, місто та транспорт, їжа та напої;
• Ввести та закріпити базовий словниковий запас, пов’язаний з цими темами;
